Getting about

Whichever university campus you're based at you'll only be a short bus ride or train journey from the city centre.

Birmingham also has a tram which goes between Snow Hill and Wolverhampton; providing a convenient way to travel around the Black Country.

Bus company National Express West Midlands offers travel cards for students who study for over twelve hours a week, and you can buy the pass online at www.travelwm.co.uk. The great thing is that if you're strapped for cash you don't have to pay for a full year; you can buy a card each term, making budgeting easier.

There are also special deals for students, available through particular universities which can sometimes include free transport between campuses. Keep a look out for more information at your campus. The tourist information centres have bus timetable information, maps and city guides which will help you to find your way around so you'll feel at home in no time.

Remember walking  is free, and you get to see places that are off the beaten track. You'll feel healthier for the exercise and some of the campuses are within easy walking distance of the city centre.

Birmingham City University has eight campuses from leafy Edgbaston to modern city centre dwellings to Perry Bar. Aston University has lots of accommodation based right in the middle of the city centre, and the majority of students at the University of Birmingham live around the Selly Oak area which is easily accessible by bus.

Don't forget that National Express offer incredible deals on their service throughout the UK making it affordable for your mates to visit and experience Birmingham for themselves.
