The central hub of the busy Eastside is encapsulated within The Custard Factory, where on the lower levels you'll find an excellent selection of boutiques like Diabolik, Fragile Design, Ideal Skate as well as Plastic People and the Studio 4 gallery. The Custard Factory is besieged by market goers seeking bargains when the flea market is held here.

There are top of the range clothes for sale at A Too where you'll discover a new look and a fascinating array of designer makers like Helmut Lang, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood, plus, a fair amount of street style clothes.

Shopping for clothes is of course a very individual experience and some people enjoy sorting through second-hand clothes for hidden gems. A very good experience can be had at Vintage Clothing UK on Digbeth High Street. It's a gigantic warehouse full of second-hand clothes that are high class deleted designer labels and are very popular with the student population.

Birmingham has a great music tradition of course and if you're after records then Polar Bear is one of the better shops out there. The shop caters for all kinds of tastes from avant garde rock to metal to independent world music.
