When you feel the need for an injection of culture –and you will- then take note, at the heart of the city is the Birmingham Conservatoire. Not only is it internationally recognised as one of Britain's leading music colleges it's also built up an immense reputation for training musicians. Based in the city centre, the Conservatoire hosts over 300 events annually; many taking place in the Adrian Boult Hall. The hall is a purpose built concert venue and holds up to 500 people, plus, it's just been customised with live electronics ensuring that extra quality during performances.
There's a real buzz around the place as graduates and undergraduate students mix together and exchange ideas. It doesn't matter what you're into whether it's jazz or classical music, solo or orchestral, there's something for everyone. It's a day out with loads of entertainment on offer, whether just want to head down yourself or go with friends and family.
Among the wide ranging and excellent events calendar are music competitions, showcases for up and coming talent, afternoon festivals and gala concerts; so if you fancy yourself as the next Lloyd Webber or Jamie Callum then join in. Prices are great value too with some concerts only costing a few quid if you're a student and not much more for anyone else.
