Making a noise in the music world
Our multi-cultural and diverse student population makes Birmingham a city where entertainment is out of the very top drawer. There are loads of places where you can catch live music for example. There are places that you can go for a really messy student night out and places for those with family to enjoy too.
For instance, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is widely acknowledged as one of the finest musical ensembles in the world. Performing around 75 concerts each year as residents at the magnificent Symphony Hall, the orchestra also act as cultural ambassadors for the city, playing many concerts overseas.
Alternatively, there's Oceana night club on Hurst Street, which caters for a 3,300 capacity and offers a unique and exciting club experience. There are five bars and two nightclubs playing a variety of different music.
If it's a live gig you're after, then Birmingham has some of the best live venues in the country, ranging from intimate places like Rick's Garden Cafe, where they offer an exciting array of live bands, to the bigger venues, such as the O2 Academy and the National Indoor Arena, Birmingham is simply the best place for music.
