Birmingham overseas students

Birmingham is a very welcoming place with a young, vibrant outlook on international issues and cultural diversity. Students from abroad should feel at home in the city's cafés, bars and shops.  The city is serviced by excellent transport facilities and has a renowned airport in the form of Birmingham International.  For the most value for money travel to the airport on a National Express coach taking you to most airports around the UK.

Or if you want to travel to Birmingham international airport just jump on the number 900 or 58 bus from just outside the markets on Moat Lane or Digbeth High St.

With the credit situation the way it is at the moment, many international students can get a good exchange rate on their money when staying in the city. Should you want to have a taster of the universities and the city, then the University of Birmingham has a scheme where a non-degree taking student who would like to spend some time studying in Birmingham can do so. The 'study abroad programme' is a fee-paying programme and runs for a semester or for a full academic year.

Birmingham City University has an international advice service to help sort out any academic programmes you might want to get on, plus advice from students from over 30 different countries. You'll be able to speak to people who have been through a similar experience and can speak your own language too.

Other universities have similar programmes to help international students to settle in. Aston University, for example, offers a foundation programme that aims to fully prepare students for a university education in Britain. Speak to someone at the university for details of all these programmes and we hope to see you soon.
